A camouflaged truck being test run in Dearborn can unravel some speculations. Based on leaked pictures, it is likely that Ford will be resurrecting the smaller truck model in the United States through the 2019 Ford Ranger.
It is no secret that the Ford Ranger has been making its presence felt in the international market. The brand, which is being managed by the Australian subsidiary of the Detroit-based automaker, has been gaining steam across the globe. Within this scenario, it is highly likely that ranking people in Dearborn are on top of this project. It has been observed that the 2019 Ford Ranger's twin-bar grille and its tail lights have been derived from the 2018 Ford F-150.
Back in January this year, Ford has announced that the 2019 Ranger will be revived in the American market. It can be remembered that the production of the off-road vehicle has been stopped in 2011. Around that time, Dearborn headquarters has defended its move by saying that potential buyers will most likely purchase the full-size F-150. However, the entry of the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon in 2015 has bolstered the mid-size truck field which led Ford to re-shape its approach.
It cannot be denied that smaller off-roaders become more appealing to suburban mainstays. With this in mind, it is highly probable that Ford's Michigan assembly plant will be expanded or enhanced. It is perceived that the 2019 Ford Ranger will be equipped with the EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbo inline-four engine as the standard machine. Upgrades to 2.7, 3.5 and 3.7 V-6 variants can also be made available.
The idea of integrating the new 10-speed automatic mechanism is also being floated around. However, it is still unclear how this system will be incorporated into the upcoming brand. Still, Ford will consider offering the rear and the all-wheel drive versions. With the 2019 Ford Ranger truck in the horizon, it is also being anticipated that Ford will unravel the Bronco model within a short stretch since both vehicles use the same chassis.
