The intriguing car that belongs to one of Germany's fabled automobile companies is finally out. Speculations about the new unit have been laid to rest as the revelation of the car's identity brings up the memories associated with the good old summer days.
The Stuttgart-based Mercedes has plugged in its conventional G-Wagen or G-Class Series. The result is the Maybach G650 Landaulet which actually revives the glory years of windy rides.
It is the 70s or even the 60s all over again. The word Landaulet actually describes a component of an automobile that has a retractable roof. Once folded, the top is pulled back over the rear seats.
This is the element that made the 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300 d Landaulet and the 1964 600 Pullman brands alluring. The truth is this type of vehicle has been introduced in 2008 with the initial version of the Maybach.
What makes this German model enticing is the integration of the top-down element with its off-road capability. The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet is loaded with a 6-liter twin turbo V12 engine.
This is the same machine that runs under the hoods of the manufacturer's notable cars like the AMG S65, SL65, and G65 models. In addition to its astonishing 463KW of power, all wheels are ready to take in 1,000Nm of torque.
Judging from the number of units that will be unveiled across the globe, the G650 will most likely be a limited edition. Only 99 cars are up for grabs in the market.
The 2017 Landaulet is equipped with unique elements which include a longer 578mm wheelbase, a rear entertainment system with two 10-inch screens, carbon fiber guards, electrically-controlled side steps and 22-inch alloy wheels. The seats, which have a massage system, can be accustomed individually in the rear part.
What makes the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet exceptional is its all-terrain prowess. Aside from its 450mm ground clearance, the four-seat vehicle has a hundred percent differential locks with a low-ratio-gearing.
