Atlanta Falcons fullback Jason Snelling is giving new meaning to the term, "weed eater" - a literal term.

According to the Barrow County News in Winder, Ga., Winder police officers arrested the seventh-year Falcons fullback on Friday morning and charged him with possession of marijuana and some traffic infractions after pulling him over.

The Barrow County News reported that at 3:35 a.m., the policed observed Snelling in a black Lincoln Navigator unable to keep the car in its lane.

After pulling over Snelling, an officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, the report said. Snelling admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the evening and was driving home from a friend's house.

"I asked Mr. Snelling if there was any other marijuana in the vehicle, and he told me that there was a grinder in the center console of the vehicle and that it had a little bit of marijuana left in it," the arresting officer wrote in his report. "... I searched the vehicle and located a metal grinder where Mr. Snelling had said it was."

It seemed as if Snelling was cooperating with police until another officer observed that Snelling kept swallowing mid-sentence during their conversation.

The County News reported that the officer told Snelling to open his mouth. When he did, the officer noticed several leafy green particles inside.

At 4:20 a.m., police placed Snelling under arrest. He had no valid insurance for his car and had an expired registration.

The charges against Snelling included possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug-related materials, no or an expired driver's license, failure to stay within a lane, no proof of insurance, improper use of a dealer's license plate and no registration.

The arrest charge did not include any kind of tampering with evidence charge.

Snelling has 132 rushing yards and one touchdown for the Falcons this season. He also has 159 receiving yards and two TD receptions.

Snelling's status for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has not been addressed.
