New Orleans seems to be on the clock. Just hours following the epic trade that netted DeMarcus Cousins from the Sacramento Kings, the Pelicans is dead set on unloading a part of its front line.

The West-based NBA ball club is nowhere near the frenzy that it is currently into until the Kings agreed to part ways with its erstwhile franchise player. With another big name player on its roster, the team featuring this year's all-star game MVP in Antonio Davis is keen in keeping its line-up competitive prior to the resumption of the second half of the season.

As of late, the Pelicans are putting forward Terrence Jones on the trading block just days prior to the transaction deadlines. While New Orleans has initiated the move, the decision to move the former University of Kentucky standout is a mutual one.

The 25-year old Jones is presently on his first year with the Pelicans. Before joining the Alvin Gentry-mentored squad, he has spent four seasons with the Houston Rockets.

With New Orleans, he has averaged 11.5 points with 5.9 rebounds per game. With Cousins on board, it is likely that Jones's minutes will be trimmed down which is why a change of scenery became an immediate option to consider.

Back in July, the former Rocket has expressed his intention to assume a major role for a team that wants to take him in. He has pointed out that his priorities focused on joining a young but highly-competitive ball club.

This season, Terrence Jones has been able to play in 51 games. He is averaging around 24.8 minutes per contest.

After agreeing to a one-year deal with the Pelicans this season, the former Wild Cat has been able to jack up his statistics by increasing his field goal percentage to 0.473 from 0.452 in Houston.

It is perceived that New Orleans is looking forward to acquire a guard for Jones. Sending Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans and Langston Galloway to Sacramento has apparently thinned out the backcourt rotation of the Western squad.
