The game can be live streamed here. Washington fans can hear all of the hard-hitting action on WFED 1100 while Detroit fans can do the same on 97.1 The Ticket.

Washington is on a 5-1-1 streak and is within one point of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the lead in the Metropolitan Division while the Red Wings have lost eight of their last 11 games and are winless in their last six contests at Joe Louis Arena.

Defenseman Mike Green will be sidelined tonight for the Capitals.

"I think it was stiffer than he anticipated," coach Adam Oates said, according to NHL.com. "He's got a contusion there, lower-body, and it just doesn't feel good enough to go."

Though Detroit has dropped six straight at home, five of the losses have come in overtime or a shootout, meaning Detroit has been able to at least scrape out a point from each loss.

"We've been able to get one point [at home] a number a times and we haven't been able to get the second one," coach Mike Babcock told the media on Thursday, NHL.com reports. "We're taking steps here and need to continue to get better. Playing without the puck will be key for us."

The key to the team relies in Henrik Zetterberg (10-11-21) and Pavel Datsyuk (9-11-20) who lead the team in points while Daniel Alfredsson is third with 14 points off of three goals and 11 assists.

The Capitals, meanwhile have been led by Alex Ovechkin, who has 14 goals and seven assists for 21 points while Nicklas Backstrom has five tallies and 15 helpers for 20 points and Mikhail Grabovsky has lit the lamp six times and added 11 helpers for 17 points.

in net, Braden Holtby has started in 15 of the Caps 21 games while posting an 8-6-0 record with a 2.72 GAA and a .920 save percentage while Jimmy Howard has been between the pipes for 15 of Detroit's 20 games and is 5-5-5 with a 2.67 GAA and a .910 save percentage.

Both teams will look for big wins when the puck drops in Detroit tonight.
