The future of Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys is the most interesting story of the 2017 NFL offseason. Here is the latest NFL rumor roundup that includes an update on Romo's status, Adrian Peterson's next team and more.

Tony Romo expecting to get released than traded by Cowboys

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, Romo believes that the Cowboys are going to release him this offseason rather than trade him. The 37-year-old quarterback also thinks that he should be a starter and he can still play at a high level for two to three more years.

Some of the teams already linked to Romo include the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills. However, his value is still unknown at the moment since he has only played in four games in the last couple of seasons due to injury.

The Cowboys are already set with Dak Prescott as the starting quarterback moving forward. The 23-year-old rookie led Dallas to a 13-3 record and back to the playoffs. They are better off without Romo and it's time for both sides to move on from each other.

Adrian Peterson in New York?

Peterson is one of the best running backs ever and his future with the Minnesota Vikings is in doubt. He has been hinting about joining the New York Giants if the Vikings decide to cut him this offseason to free up $18 million in cap space.

However, Giants fans should not be thrilled about a 31-year-old running back joining the team. Paul Schwartz of the New York Post believes that the Giants are not going to sign Peterson. He pointed out to several problems including his knee problems last season and his history of child-abuse.

A.J. Bouye to become a free agent?

The Houston Texans are not expected to use their franchise tag on Bouye this offseason and the two sides have until March 7 to agree on a new deal, per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicles. Bouye is considered as one of the best cornerbacks on the free agent market if becomes available.

One of the teams that could have an interest in Bouye is the Philadelphia Eagles since a cornerback is their main need heading into free agency. However, they only have around $15 million in cap space but it may not be enough to sign Bouye and other additional pieces.
