For now, the role of James Bond is still empty. However, this may soon be filled in by Sam Heughan, the star who is best known in "Outlander". Reports suggest that Sam Heughan is now on the list of potential candidates for the role of Japes Bond in the upcoming "007".

Heughan who is now 35 years of age has proved to be a fan favorite, especially for the Jamie Fraser role he played in "Outlander". He was also one of the nominees for the Laurence Olivier Award way back in 2002. This was for the role that he played in "Outlying Islands".

According to The Scottish Sun, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Aidan Turner and Tom Hardy are the stiffest rivals of Heughan to the James Bond role. With this, it is very evident that Heughan indeed had his debut in the "Outlander".

William Shatner, who played the role of Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series, also agrees to Heughan playing the Bond character. The "Outlander" star was conceived in this world in New Galloway, Dumfries. He then spent his early years in Edinburgh. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, during his puberty, he entered the Royal Lyceum Theater.

This was where he developed his love for acting and theater. Heughan grew up thinking himself as a fat child. But despite all of these, he still followed his passion and pursued his love for acting and drama. Now, it all turned out to be the perfect path for him to have followed.

Hopefully, he does land the role of James Bond for "007". If not, then let's just hope for the best, that the producers would get the perfect person for the role. With his charm, looks, and witt, he surely has what it got to be the James Bond of the new generation.
