The first name for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017 has been revealed. The WWE announced on Monday that Kurt Angle will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

The announcement was made on ESPN as the internet exploded with joy because of the news. Angle, who spent seven years in the WWE, is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He is also an incredible performer and entertainer that captivated the fans during the two most important eras in professional wrestling history.

"I was shocked. I've been out of WWE for a long time and out of touch with them, so I didn't really expect this. It's a huge honor," Angle said.

The Olympic Gold Medalist made his WWE debut in 1999 and had one of the greatest rookie years in the company's history. He won the WWE, Intercontinental and European championship in his first year in the WWE while also winning the 2000 King of the Ring Tournament.

Angle asked for his release from the WWE in 2006, citing injuries. He joined TNA Wrestling later that year and spent ten years with them. Nevertheless, he deserves to become the headliner of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017.

Who will join Angle in this year's WWE Hall of Fame Class? According to FanSided, Diamond Dallas Page and "Ravishing" Rick Rude will be recognized this year. DDP is one of the greatest WCW superstars off all time while Rude is one of the major names during the WWE's Golden Age in the 1980s.

As for the women's wing of the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame Class, Beth Phoenix is the name rumored to be getting inducted. Phoenix is a three-time Women's Champion and a one-time Divas title holder.

A class of WWE Hall of Fame usually is composed of the headliner, a group or stable, women's, celebrity and Warrior Award winner. The WWE also introduced "Legacy" inductees last year recognizes wrestlers from the early part of the 20th century.
