Adding insult to Cardinal-colored injury: Collegefootballtalk.com reported Friday that fans of top-ranked Alabama couldn't wait to hit Oregon fans when they're down.

Since late September, according to Collegefootballtalk.com, a couple of Oregon students began selling green and yellow T-shirts that read "WE WANT BAMA" around the Oregon campus.

The report said that the T-shirts were hot-selling items as the Ducks looked to put themselves in a position to play the two-time defending national champion Crimson Tide in the 2014 national championship game. The T-shirts sold for $10 apiece.

Alabama even countered by selling "YOU DON'T WANT BAMA" T-shirts for $18-$24 per shirt.

But after Stanford's 26-20 upset of Oregon on Thursday night at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, Calif., Alabama fans were ready to unveil another shirt in response to the Ducks' original idea:

It still had the "WE WANT BAMA" lettering in yellow on a green shirt, but that was crossed out, which appears to be by a crimson-colored cross, and below it was "WE FORGOT STANFORD."

The Cardinal have dashed the Ducks' hopes of playing in the national championship game for two consecutive years. Stanford beat Oregon at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore., on a field goal in overtime, 17-14, in 2012.

Collegefootballtalk.com lauded Alabama fans for its lightning-quick, 12-hour response to the Oregon loss, but it could be assumed that the fans had the shirts ready to go in anticipation of the Ducks losing to the Cardinal.

The website also pointed out that the Crimson Tide have their own potential BCS-busting matchup on Saturday against rival LSU that could leave 'Bama on the outside looking in at the national championship game.

Then again, Oregon fans probably wouldn't have as much fun needling the Crimson Tide.
