Tim Tebow isn't on Team Trump after all.

Reports floated around that the former NFL quarterback was set to speak on behalf of Donald Trump at the four-day Republican National Convention in Cleveland next week, but he has denied the speculation, calling it a "silly rumor."

Tebow posted a video in which he addressed the ongoing rumors and said he just returned from the Philippines, when he heard the speculation starting to grow.

"It's amazing how fast rumors fly," Tebow said in the video (via TMZ). "And that's exactly what it is ... a rumor. My goal has always been to be able to make a difference in the biggest way possible, and if one day that's in the political realm, then that's what I'll do. But right now, I really believe that that's through my foundation and our amazing partners and fighting for kids that can't fight."

Tebow is no stranger to public speaking and appeared on a list of speakers for the four-day event that was obtained by the New York Times.

The list also contained other names linked to sports such as UFC president Dana White, who confirmed he'd be speaking, and golfer Natalie Gulbis, who appeared on "Celebrity Apprentice,"

NFL quarterbacks Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger have shown support for Trump in the past, but they aren't expected to partake in the event.

Trump has been a fan of Tebow for years and even recently came under fire for purchasing a signed jersey and helmet of the former NFL quarterback back in 2012 with money he obtained from one of his charities. He has yet to explain the controversy publicly.

Tebow, 28, has been plenty busy despite not being in the NFL anymore. The former NFL star is currently co-hosting the Fox show "Home Free" and appears on "SEC Nation" during college football season.

The former quarterback hasn't played in an NFL career since 2012, but he's remained in the public eye. Tebow had stints with the Broncos -- which led to Trump purchasing the memorabilia -- as well as the Jets, but he was cut prior to the season starting during his stops with the Patriots and Eagles.

With his NFL career on hold, Tebow isn't turning to the political spectrum.
