Andre Johnson was having one of the best games of his career Sunday night when the Houston Texans appeared to be in the process of rolling over the Indianapolis Colts near halftime, but the game became secondary when Texans coach Gary Kubiak collapsed at halftime.
As the teams headed to the tunnels for halftime, Kubiak fell on the field and was taken to the hospital on a stretcher. "He had an episode; he was light-headed and dizzy," Houston general manager Rick Smith said. "He was evaluated by a number of specialists ... he is awake and coherent."
During the third quarter it was reported that Kubiak was with his family and doing well at a nearby hospital. On the telecast it was made clear the Kubiak did not have a heart attack, and it's possible he will rejoin the team today.

"We have to assess ... obviously, there's a lot of info," Smith said Sunday night. "Hopefully, Gary will be back with us tomorrow." Wade Phillips took over as head coach in the difficult circumstance. "There was a lot of unknown," Phillips said. "Everything was unknown as to what was going on and what happened to Kub. (Offensive coordinator) Rick Dennison obviously called the plays from the press box. We had to adjust as far as the head coach not being there. But it was a shock to everybody." The loss of Kubiak seemed to take a toll on the Texans, who squandered their big lead and eventually lost to the AFC South-leading Colts 27-24.
"We were all very worried," quarterback Case Keenum said. "When we went back out they told us he was ... stable. We were all upset about that but trying to stay focused at the same time." Despite the developing rivalry between the two teams, Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted out strong support for the fallen coach. Irsay's tweet read, "Big time prayers for Coach Kubiak...God bless his healthy return and ease his family's worry and concern."
