After seeing the Predators' season come to an end in heartbreaking fashion, Mike Fisher has big plans this offseason.
The Nashville forward and his country singer wife, Carrie Underwood, are in the midst of planning their "forever" home together. Despite the sting of being eliminated after being one win away from the Western Conference Final, Fisher can now throw himself into this new project.
"My husband, Mike and I are designing our 'forever' home," she told Country Living Magazine. "My must-haves are a wood-burning fireplace, a porch swing and rocking chairs."
The "Jesus Take the Wheel" singer added that the home will have two special occupants -- her two dogs.
"I have two dogs -- Ace and Penny Jean -- but I constantly consider renaming them Bad and Worse," she joked. "I can't imagine life without them, though."
Underwood and Fisher also have a son together, 1-year-old Isaiah.
Fisher, 35, had a tremendous year professionally as the Predators made the playoffs for the second straight year, knocking off the Western Conference powerhouse Ducks in the franchise's first ever Game 7, but then falling to the Sharks in another series that went the distance.
San Jose is currently tied 1-1 with St. Louis in the Western Conference Final.
The center had 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points in the regular season and went on to go 5-2--7 in 14 playoff games. Underwood, meanwhile, has been taking part in her "The Storyteller Tour" this spring.
The Predators forward has 258 goals, 285 assists and 543 points through 1,016 career NHL games.
Fisher notched an on-ice milestone this season, playing in his 1,000th NHL game, which Underwood attended. The former American Idol winner beamed with pride afterward.
"It's very special for our family to get to be here for Mike," Underwood told NHL.com in March after attending the game. "He's there for me and for us as much as he possibly can be with his busy schedule and it's nice to be able to return the favor."
