The NBA season is barely a week old but rumors are swirling about two possible trades involving an aging point guard and a former college sensation who has been stuck on the bench for quite some time now.

ESPN.com is reporting that Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson, a former All-Star who has seen his productivity slid down in recent years, is on the trading block, while Hoopsworld is reporting that ex Brigham Young star Jimmer Fredette is getting interest from six teams if he is to be traded by the Sacramento Kings.

Marc Stein of ESPN says that Nelson, a former All-Star while playing with then Magic superstar Dwight Howard, is on the trading block with Orlando asking for a future first round pick in exchange for the aging point guard. The Magic are desperate to rebuild through the draft and trading away Nelson, a shoot-first point guard is seen by the management as a practical way to yield a first-round pick.

However, Stein says teams are now reluctant to trade away their first-round picks for proven veterans including Nelson, who has a $8.6 million contact this season and owed only $2 million next season.

Another guard who is on the trading block is Fredette, a lights-out shooter in college who has had a disappointing career with the Kings. The 10th pick in the 2011 draft, Fredette has been rotting in the Kings bench and did not even appear in the regular season opener against the Denver Nuggets. Hoopsworld is reporting that sources indicate the Utah Jazz are among six teams that have expressed interest in acquiring Fredette.
