The Lakers have had far too much drama in recent months to turn to Derek Fisher as their new head coach.

From relationship issues with its players to setting new franchise-highs for losses in one season, Los Angeles has been an absolute mess. Now, it is in search of a brand new coach.

The Lakers finished 17-65 this season, setting a franchise record for the worst finish for a third straight season. In 2013-14 under Mike D'Antoni, the team finished 27-55 to set the first record. The following season, their first under Scott, the Lakers finished 21-61. Overall, Scott's two-year tenure ended with a grisly 38-126 mark.

It was revealed Sunday night that the Lakers were calling it quits with Scott and were now in the hunt for a new coach.

"We would like to thank Byron for his hard work, dedication and loyalty over the last two years but have decided it is in the best interest of the organization to make a change at this time," general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a statement, according to ESPN.

In the midst of Los Angeles looking for a new coach, Fisher has reportedly emerged as an interested party.

"Sources indicate Derek Fisher has interest in the Lakers job," ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne tweeted. "Obviously Laker front office still compiling their list and gauging interest from potential candidates after Byron Scott wasn't retained Sunday night."

Hiring Fisher would bring a new world of unneeded drama to a team that can use a much-needed break from it.

The team dynamic was already turned on its head when D'Angelo Russell's video of teammate Nick Young admitting to cheating on his fiancée, rapper Iggy Azalea, went viral. This led to Azalea forgiving "Swaggy P," but also threatening bodily harm to him Young if he ever gets caught cheating again.

It's also bad enough that Jordan Clarkson appears to be in a rapidly heating up relationship with Kylie Jenner, and based on the Lamar Odom drama, getting involved with any part of the Kardashian clan is very dangerous.

As for Fisher, he has his own personal issues to overcome. The former Knicks coach got into a fight with Matt Barnes back in October at "Basketball Wives: L.A." star Gloria Govan's house. Govan is Barnes' estranged ex-wife and Fisher, his former teammate, began a romantic relationship with her much to the chagrin of Barnes.

Upon learning that Fisher was romantically involved with his ex-wife and was attending a party Govan was hosting, Barnes drove there and allegedly struck him. The romance between Fisher and Govan has continued, while Barnes hasn't been shy about wanting to fight him again.

Yup, that seems like way too much drama for the Lakers to bring on board as they attempt to turn the franchise around in the post-Kobe Bryant era.
