After their Opening Day meeting got washed out on Monday, the Astros and Yankees take the field Tuesday to begin their 2016 seasons with a rematch of last year's American League Wild Card Game.

Houston broke a string of six straight losing seasons in 2015 and made the playoffs for the first time since 2005 by finishing with an 86-76 mark. New York ended a two-year postseason drought by finishing with an 87-75 record.

The Yankees' season unceremoniously ended when they ran into today's Astros starter, Dallas Keuchel in the Wild Card Game, and were subsequently blanked 3-0 at Yankee Stadium. The Astros went on to fall to the eventual World Series champion Royals in five games in the ALDS last postseason.

Keuchel led the AL with 20 wins and a 1.02 WHIP, while ranking second with a 2.48 ERA last season. He'll be opposed by Masahiro Tanaka (12-7, 3.51 ERA in 2015), who took the loss in that Wild Card Game by yielding two runs in five innings.

Houston boasts a tremendous young lineup, flanked by reigning AL Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve, who paced the league with 200 hits and 38 stolen bases last season. Carlos Gomez will also enjoy his first full season in an Astros uniform after being acquired at last year's trade deadline.

New York counters with a proven, yet aging lineup, led by Alex Rodriguez (33 homers last season), Mark Teixeira, Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann. The Yankees also brought in Starlin Castro in a trade with the Cubs in the offseason.
