The bizarre first day of NFL free agency is just getting started as far as quarterbacks are concerned.

Multiple reports have indicated that the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos will make an attempt to lure San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to the Rocky Mountains.

Los Angeles Rams' Refusal To Guarantee Starting Job To Peyton Manning Led To His Retirement

The move makes sense for the Broncos. They can offer Kaepernick a team similar to the 49ers during their playoff years. Kaepernick would not be asked to win games; he simply would be asked to manage the offense to allow Denver's all-world defense to dominate.

That's not so bizarre to imagine.

Rams Coach Jeff Fisher Says No Free-Agent QB Signings Imminent

What is bizarre is what happens to the Broncos if Colin Kaepernick remains with the 49ers or signs with another team, such as the New York Jets.

"The Broncos, fearful of losing Osweiler, have been rumored to be interested in Colin Kaepernick, RG3, and have called Rams' QB Case Keenum their "Plan C," if Osweiler and Kaep were to fall through," SB Nation's Turf Show Times reported. "One of those dominos has fallen.

"In related news, the Rams have also placed a first round tender on Case Keenum, meaning the team would receive a 1st round pick if he were to sign elsewhere, assuming they weren't to match the outside offer. It's probably a wise move by the Rams who say they'd like for Keenum to compete for the starting QB spot in 2016."

Keenum is coming off the best year of his career. He played in six games for the Rams in 2015, starting five. His record was 3-2 as a starter, and his passer rating of 87.7 was 9.5 points higher than his next best rating during his four-year career.

And, pending Kaepernick's next move, Keenum might be the projected starting quarterback for defending Super Bowl champion Denver or the high-profile Rams, who have returned to Los Angeles looking to make a splash in their first season back on the west coast.
