Tim Tebow is no longer in the NFL, but his fans aren't to blame for it -- despite what some may think.

Fox Sports 1 host Colin Cowherd blamed religious fans for driving Tebow out of Denver, rather than recognizing the fact that Peyton Manning is a more talented quarterback.

Tim Tebow Is Still NFL's Fifth-Most Popular Quarterback

"I think with Tebow, his fans ended up hurting him ... I think Tebow's fans hurt Tebow more than Tebow," Cowherd said on his show Monday, via NewsBusters.org. "Nobody wants Tebow because his faith-based, crazy fans that take over the stadium. That's why Denver had to go out and get Peyton Manning, because Tebowmania took over Denver. Tim's a good enough athlete to be on every roster in this league, absolutely."

Well, Tebow's career actually continued from there. The former Heisman Trophy winner ended up with the Jets and then had stints with the Patriots and Eagles -- though the latter two teams cut him before he saw any regular season action.

Denver traded for Manning and ended up winning the Super Bowl this past season. It's hard to imagine that feat being replicated by Tebow.

Whether or not Tebow should be in the NFL is up for debate, but to say the only reason he isn't is because of his fans is an outrageous take.

Tebow may eventually get another shot in the NFL, but even if he doesn't, it hardly has anything to do with the religious fans who root for the devout Christian quarterback.

Five months ago, Cowherd was on the other side of the debate (see video below).
