Tim Tebow may have removed one big barrier in his hopes of returning to the NFL.

He again is considering playing in the Canadian Football League.

That is the opinion of his college football coach Urban Meyer, according to Pro Football Talk.

NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock made an appearance with Meyer on NFL Network and first brought up the notion that the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner play up north to continue to develop his quarterback skills.

Meyer, who led Tebow and the Florida Gators to the 2006 and 2008 national championships, concurred and said Tebow still would go to Canada if the right situation were to present itself.

"I think that's a great point and I was actually in a conversation with him about going to Canada. The situation - his family and I were involved in it - we just didn't think it was the right one. I think if there's a right one I think he'd probably do it," Meyer said.

It's unclear whether Meyer, now the coach at Ohio State, was referring to an opportunity Tebow had in 2014 to join the Montreal Alouettes, as Yahoo Sports Canada reported.

Several pro football pundits have suggested that Tebow switch positions to increase his chances of returning to professional football. Meyer sounded as if Tebow still has not considered that option because he was talking about Tebow's quarterback mechanics that still need work to be considered for the NFL.

"He does have somewhat of an awkward throwing motion at times," he said. "I really thought the Chip Kelly experience (with the Philadelphia Eagles last preseason) would be his opportunity - I really hope he gets his foot in the door."

Tebow has not played in a regular-season game since 2012 with the New York Jets.
