Well, it was a nice run while it lasted, Serena.

World's No. 4-ranked Simona Halep believes Serena Williams' losses at the U.S. Open and the Australian Open reveal that her mystique is fading, giving other players reason to believe they can beat her, according to Yahoo Sports.

Serena Williams Apparently Has Never Heard Of A Flu Shot

"I think now every tournament is open to win. Everyone can win," Halep said. "I know that Serena is still there and she's very strong. But as I said before, if Angelique (Kerber) won this (Australian), (Flavia) Pennetta won the U.S. Open, in my opinion, I can believe more that I have a chance to win. I think every player thinks the same."

Ironically, Williams was more dominant at the Australian Open before her finals loss to Kerber than she had been in the previous Grand Slam events that she won.

The revelation that Serena's been dealing with a knee injury also has contributed to the tearing down of her invincibility.

"It's a chance for us to fight and believe that we can win a Grand Slam," Halep said. "I do now. We just need more time. We just need more confidence. Why not to believe that we can beat also Serena."

While Williams may be more vulnerable, Halep seems less capable right now to take advantage.

The Romanian, who handed Williams one of her worst losses in several years at the 2014 season-ending WTA Finals during the round-robin portion by yielding only two games, spent much of 2015 ranked No. 2 behind Serena. Halep, however, has opened 2016 in a slump. She has a 3-4 match record, including a first-round loss at the Australian Open.

Both players have some time to get their games returning in a positive direction before the French Open in May. But right now, Halep may be facing more questions about her play than Serena.
