Being a basketball wife comes with a certain connotation, but Russell Westbrook's wife, Nina Earl, is attempting to change that perception with her attire.

The Thunder guard's wife -- who received a $700,000 engagement ring from Westbrook and wore a slightly revealing, yet (in our opinion) tasteful, gown at their wedding -- is going the same route as Ayesha Curry (Steph's wife) from a couple months ago on Twitter. Predictably, the Internet monsters (as they are wont to do) had plenty to say about Mrs. Curry's comments.

Russell Westbrook Is Happy In OKC ... For Now

And because no one is safe on social media, Earl received plenty of feedback for her comments as well. Some of the negative included...

"So wearing what makes YOU feel beautiful is disrespecting yourself? You can't define what self-respect is for others. We are all our own woman."

"Clothes do not define the worth of anyone. Man or woman."

"You can wear a crop top and still have self-respect. Those things are not mutually exclusive."

Knicks Have A Chance To Sign Russell Westbrook, Depending On Their Coach

But some was positive: "At the end of the day there is a reason why @ayeshacurry and @ninaamarie_w are married to their nba boyfriends as opposed to being 'baby mamas,' and it starts with having a good mindset," one commentor wrote.

Russell Westbrook is certainly on the cutting edge of fashion among NBA players, but not everything he wears is well received. Many will argue there is a double standard on the fashion statements men and women make, but where do you stand on Mrs. Westbrook's ideology? Should women start to cover up more?
