Johnny Football is surrounded by enablers.
Just days after it came out that the Browns hid the news of the quarterback showing up to practice drunk by claiming he had a concussion, his grandfather is now jumping to his defense.
Browns Enabled Johnny Manziel When They Could Have Helped
Manziel has been accused of striking his ex-girlfriend, model Colleen Crowley, on two separate occasions. The latest incident, which allegedly occurred on Jan. 29, reportedly left Crowley with a ruptured eardrum.
In the aftermath of the latest alleged incident, Manziel's grandfather is telling people to back off of his grandson.
Johnny Manziel Believes Chandler Parsons Slept With Colleen Crowley
"The girl has her problems," Norman Paul Manziel told Daily Mail Online.
Norman said he didn't believe that all of Johnny's problems were caused by Crowley, but he cut himself off before finishing the thought. The former Heisman Trophy winner has had well-documented problems with alcohol, which led to him checking himself into a rehab facility last offseason.
Johnny then was benched for two games after lying about a video that surfaced of him partying during the Browns' bye week. The signal caller was also caught boozing in disguise in Las Vegas this season and eventually the team benched him for the regular season finale following the fiasco at practice.
After coach Mike Pettine was fired and replaced by Hue Jackson and general manager Ray Farmer was also let go at the end of the season, it was revealed that Cleveland is likely to release the quarterback in March.
Though Johnny's problems were mostly brought on by his own bad decisions, his grandfather believes everyone should stay out of his business, which would likely happen if his grandson could stay out of his own way.
"Everyone just needs to leave the boy alone," he said. "He needs his privacy right now. If he was left alone, he'd be all right. But he can't sit down without being bothered."
If his family and others continue to enable this reckless behavior, the quarterback's grandfather better get used to people questioning the actions of his grandson.
