Ashley Graham, a “plus-size” model, received great news on Tuesday that she will be featured in Sports Illustrated’s 2016 Swimsuit Issue. Here are some things to know about Graham, who is fast becoming one of the most influential names in fashion.

She Is NOT The First “Plus-Size” Model In SI Swimsuit History

Graham, a size 16, is going to be the second plus-size model in Swimsuit Issue history. The first plus-size model to make it inside Sports Illustrated’s coveted pages was Robin Lawley, a size-12. Of course, most would argue that neither of these women should be considered plus-size, but this is modeling we’re talking about.

Graham is in the SI history books, however, because she is, in fact, the first plus-size model to ever appear in a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue ad. This year she will be in another ad in addition to having her own spread.

Ashley Doesn’t Really Like The Term “Plus-Size”

Graham gave a TED Talk in April 2015 titled “Plus Size? More Like My Size,” and has become a body activist encouraging women to be confident in their bodies regardless of what they look like.

She Doesn’t Just Talk The Talk About Body Activism

Graham helped found the organization ALDA, which is a group of five plus-size models who have come together to “alter perceptions, engage and empower other women, and make meaningful change.” They also strive to promote a “holistic view of beauty” that does away with labels.

Forbes Has Recognized Graham’s Impact

Graham was recognized in 2016 by Forbes by being placed on their 30 Under 30 list. Forbes lists her impressive accomplishments, which include landing five prominent magazine covers. Graham’s message of confidence comes through when she talks about her own success.

"I've had success in breaking the mold in the fashion industry,” Graham told Forbes. “I also think that it's great because I have a body that the average-size American woman has. And I'm using it to let other women know that you are beautiful."

Graham Is Worth A Lot Of Money

The 28-year-old is worth $1 million, according to CelebrityNetWorth.com. But men of the world shouldn’t go digging for gold; she’s been married to a man named Justin Ervin since 2010, and she met him in church.
