After a disappointing finish to the 2015 Argentine Primera campaign, River Plate returns to the pitch on Sunday in search of league glory.

The club finished a pedestrian ninth in the table last season, 15 points behind arch-rival Boca Juniors. The only saving grace was walking away with the Copa Libertadores crown. While defending it will be a priority in 2016, so too will be a 36th professional era league title.

The first obstacle is Quilmes, who finished just five points behind River Plate in 2015.

What They're Saying

River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo (via Diario Uno): "I'm going to have a tough time picking my starting XI. That's what I like. There's a lot of competition at every position and that makes us a much tougher team -- especially with all the tournaments we have to compete in."

River Plate striker Federico Andrada (via Radio Fmq): "I'm happy to be here and I have a lot of goals. I know a few players [here] from playing in other divisions and the reserves. They're good people, so I'm not going to have any problems adapting. It was [Quilmes manager] Alfredo Grelak who called me and convinced me to come [to River Plate]. Now, I have to show everyone that I'm in good form."
