There is no denying Vince McMahon is a genius in sports entertainment, but his current plans for WrestleMania 32 may certainly test that notion.
The mere fact that the chairman of the WWE came up with a concept that changed the landscape of wrestling and still exists over three decades later is proof he knows what he's doing. But at age 70 and here in 2016, the mad scientist of wrestling may just be full-blown crazy.
Wyatt Family Poised To Sink Or Swim At WrestleMania
If the rumor mill is to be believed, two of McMahon's currently planned biggest matches for WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Texas on April 3 could already be hitting the skids.
The WWE has yet to determine a No. 1 contender for Triple H at the "Show of Shows," but the smart money is on Roman Reigns.
Possible Outcomes To Fastlane Main Event
The already two-time WWE Champion has a Triple Threat Match with Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose at Fastlane on Feb. 21 to determine the No. 1 contender. Given Reigns' beef with Triple H in storyline, Brock Lesnar's likeliness of battling a Wyatt Family member and Dean Ambrose serving as Intercontinental Champion, the result seems obvious.
McMahon has been one of the biggest backers of Reigns' mega push over the last two years, and it seems Triple H's title win at the Royal Rumble is just a grand part of the scheme. The plan is still to have Reigns get his crowning moment at the biggest show of the year by defeating Triple H, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com.
Reigns has worked hard at getting better all around, and he's even found a way to get over a little more with the audience, but the WWE is risking fans booing the main event out of the building if the former Shield member emerges victorious.
The creative team shied away from having Reigns last until the final two in the Rumble Match as a way to avoid the crowd turning on him. However, it somehow expects a stadium full of people to accept him as champion at the biggest event of the year.
Another one of McMahon's grand plans is to have Braun Strowman battle The Undertaker. McMahon is very high on Strowman's look, but there is talk backstage that 'Taker may not accept the match against the very green Wyatt Family member, according to F4WOnline.com.
This means that two of the rumored three matches (Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt being the other one) for WrestleMania seem to be doomed from the starting gate. The fans likely won't be into either bout and it seems like The Undertaker will likely even be an unwilling participant.
There's still more than eight weeks until WrestleMania, so things can change, but right now Vince's greatest vision is shaping up to be his worst nightmare.
