Today at 1:00 p.m. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-5) will try and get in the win column for the first time in 2013 against the wounded Atlanta Falcons (1-4) in NFL action that can be live streamed here. Bucs fans can tune in to 620 WDAE to hear the game, while Falcons fans may do the same on Star 94.
The Falcons will enter this game a shell of their former selves. Last season Atlanta rode their potent offense, led by a passing game consisting of Julio Jones and Roddy White at wide receiver, Tony Gonzalez at tight end, and Matt Ryan flinging the ball all over the field.
Now, Jones is out for the season, White is out of action for Week 7 with a bad hamstring, and free agent running back Steven Jackson is struggling to get back on the field. Ryan is left with Gonzalez, and a crew of unproven pass catchers to go up against Darrelle Revis and Tampa Bay's underrated secondary.
"We're in a difficult streak with injuries right now, but I think as coaches we look at it as a challenge," offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter said. "No one thinks you have a chance right now, so let's try to figure out a way to get this done."
The Bucs are dealing with crises of their own; starting quarterback Josh Freeman was released already and they have a rookie quarterback, Mike Glennon, making his second career start. They ae also dealing with a MRSA outbreak that has claimed the seasons of Pro Bowl guard Carl Nicks, and kicker Lawrence Tynes.
"Whatever the distractions are, we collectively have to push them to the side," coach Greg Schiano said. "It doesn't mean you don't care about them. It doesn't mean you don't do the things that are needed to be done. But we're here for a reason. To win football games. We need to do that. We haven't, but we're going to."
