Troy Aikman doesn't believe Tony Romo can stay healthy enough moving forward. Fortunately for the Cowboys, Carson Wentz is the resolution waiting with the No. 4 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Aikman appeared on NFL HQ on Wednesday to speak about the impact of Romo's broken clavicle.

Players Cowboys Must Cut To Succeed In 2016

"I think the collarbone certainly is a concern," Aikman said, per NFL.com. "He's broken it now three times in, I believe, the last five years. As you mentioned, they're going to go in, they're going to put a plate in. That should strengthen it, is that going to be enough? I don't know.

"He has not taken a lot of hits and this year he broke it twice and he wasn't hit very much, so he has missed some time. And as a guy who continues to get older -- and I certainly know as a QB that it's harder to come back -- it's harder to play week in and week out as you get older."

Johnny Manziel Will Beat RG3 To Dallas

Meanwhile in Frisco, Texas, the Cowboys are grooming what should be the future arm of the franchise. Jason Garrett and the rest of Dallas' coaching staff ran a two-hour session with Wentz ahead of the Senior Bowl.

For the North Dakota State QB, it was a seamless transition.

"To be honest, it was actually pretty similar, the way it's up-tempo and you go from one drill to the next drill," Wentz said, per Dallas News. "That's how we do things at North Dakota State, so it was really nothing new for me."

While many are linking Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin III with the Cowboys, the two are nothing more than short-term stop-gaps. Dallas is selecting No. 4 overall, but it is far from a 4-12 team. Pivotal injuries kept them from competing in 2015. Any semblance of health in 2016 will allow them to make an expected Super Bowl run.

If healthy, there's no reason to bet against another double-digit win season.

This is the closest the franchise will be to a top-five pick. This is the closest they'll be to a franchise QB -- one that could be the heir to Romo's throne.

There's no better time to establish the foundation for the next 15 years than now.
