Nikki Bella is undergoing neck surgery Tuesday, putting her WWE future on hold. That very same day on Total Divas, the main storyline the Diva will face is a possible engagement with John Cena.

This is just one of the many problems that the reality show finds itself in as the delays in when it's taped and when it airs subjects it to many flaws.

Ranking Triple H's Potential WrestleMania Opponents

In the preview for Tuesday's episode, it's discovered that John Cena will be more open to discussing marriage with his girlfriend. During the premiere episode last week, footage was shown of the Divas taking some time off during the Japan tour.

This places the current season's storyline in July, as that's when the WWE toured Asia. Barring going live, it's impossible for the show to be on top of everything, but the six-month gap is difficult to overcome.

Paige Sends Strong Message In Cryptic Tweet

Following that logic, Cena's discussion with Bella about potentially getting married would have happened back in July. Here in January 2016, the WWE's power couple still hasn't announced any sort of engagement.

It's possible that the two got engaged by the end of the filming and are keeping it under wraps until the season finale airs, but that once again is problematic. Most viewers realize there is a huge gap between when the show is filmed and when it airs.

Now, Bella's neck injury poses an even bigger issue.

For WWE fans to go from getting the horrible news about Bella being out for at least three months and possibly longer to seeing her and Cena appearing ready to take their relationship to the next level on Total Divas, it creates a huge disconnect.

What is happening in real-time and what is occurring on the show are pulling the couple in opposite directions.

Bella even confirmed that her neck surgery and recovery will be chronicled on the show for something next season, but by the time that rolls around, another big piece of news (maybe a real engagement) could take away its impact.

"The cameras never stop filming, so you'll get to see this whole process step by step," Bella told WWE.com. "Unfortunately, they're not allowed to go inside doctors' offices with me, but they've been there on the car rides, when I walk in, when I walk out."

The cameras will be there to capture it all, but unfortunately just like everything else, it will be too little, too late by the time it airs.
