Cam Netwon has dabbed and performed his way into the Super Bowl, but not everyone always believed in him.

The Panthers quarterback was selected No. 1 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, but Carolina's decision to use their selection on him wasn't universally agreed with.

Even after his career in the NFL began, he still had his naysayers.

It seems the Internet never forgets anything, and that's probably why tweets of NFL analysts putting Newton down were unearthed following the NFC Championship Game.

Cam Newton Not Revered By Those In Bible Belt

Ponder, of course, is unemployed after being cut by the Vikings and Raiders, and most recently waived by the Broncos. Freeman hasn't exactly set the world on fire after having a nasty divorce with the Buccaneers and becoming an NFL journeyman.

Newton, meanwhile, had a career year and is in discussion for the MVP Award as he prepares for the biggest game of his life. Newton, 26, threw for 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season, while rushing for 636 yards and 10 scores.

The quarterback has only lost one game this season and helped the Panthers to a 49-15 victory over the Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Newton will now lead the Panthers into Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., where they'll look to defeat the Broncos and earn the franchise's first Lombardi Trophy.

If he is named MVP and wins the big game, he'll be just the 11th player in NFL history to do so, according to the New York Daily News.

Obviously, many pundits were wrong about Newton in 2011, but ahead of the 2015-16 Super Bowl, at least they're willing to admit how much the perception of the 6-foot-6 quarterback has changed.
