The Broncos were already looking to get to Tom Brady on Sunday, but Danny Kanell thinks they should take it to another level.
The ESPN analyst -- still living in the barbaric past of the NFL -- wants Broncos players to hit Brady after the whistle. Not with an intent to injure, of course, but to deliver the four-time Super Bowl champion a "message."
Rob Gronkowski Is 'Ready To Give Some' Blows
"I didn't even think about this until just now. I think they have to have two personal foul calls, like 15-yarders against Brady," Kanell suggested on his daily radio show with Ryan Russillo, per Awful Announcing. "Like, they've been talking about him crying, I almost feel like this is the type of game where you have to send a message like in the first and second quarter, the first half, hit him a couple of times where it's a little past the whistle. Like, let him know you're around. Get those knock downs, get those hits on him, make him aware that you're coming after him.
"I'm saying you're gonna take the hit, you're going to hit him late and you're going to get a flag called on you for hitting him late. It's one of those games where you're like in the first half, you know what, if it's close and you get a good. I'm not saying dirty, but questionable."
Tom Brady Responds To 'Crybaby' Comments
Here's a fun fact: a late hit that gets your team penalized is nothing but dirty. It doesn't matter how you sugar coat it.
Then again, this could just be a personal issue for Kanell. After all, he's only one of two QBs Brady's had the luxury of beating in Denver.
Tom Brady is 2-6 lifetime in Denver. The 2 wins were over Danny Kanell (2003) and Tim Tebow (2011) #Patriots #CmonMan @DPostSports @Broncos
