Derrick Rose finished a distant seventh in the All-Star voting returns and will likely be passed up when the reserves are named.

For his part, Rose doesn’t hold ill-feelings, but admits that he doesn’t deserve to be there in the first place.

“Just the year I've missed too many games. That was about it. Missed too many games," Rose told ESPN on his thoughts of not being voted in by the fans.

Rose is still of course trying to settle down and recall the form that made him a former NBA MVP. Rather than be bothered by it, he says he would rather work out on All-Star Weekend with trainer Rob McClanaghan and some friends.

"I don't think about what people think or say," says Rose. "It's whatever they say, but the only thing I can do is just keep working on my game and focus on what I've been focusing on."

He does, however, hope that teammate Jimmy Butler makes it to the reserves. Butler finished fourth in voting and Rose believes that if he were to be heard, the 26-year-old should be a no-brainer pick.

As for himself, Rose knows that he still needs to work on a lot of things to get better. He has been hit by career-threatening injuries for the past few years and knows that getting back in shape is something that could be a tall order for now.

Whenever I step on the floor, I just try to play my heart out. Try to play aggressive and win a game for one and with the team we’re on, I have to be more vocal as far as becoming a leader,’’ Rose said via the Chicago Sun-Times.
