Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger are miles apart in pursuit of career milestones. Unlike most couples who need the close proximity, the distance is actually working in their favor.

Ivanovic advanced to the third round of the 2016 Australian Open after defeating Anastasija Sevastova in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) on Thursday. She will face Madison Keys -- who defeated Yaroslava Shvedova in Round 2 -- on Saturday.

Bastian Schweinsteiger Has A Bigger Test Than Ana Ivanovic Coming

“It’s completely different to when I started,” Ivanovic said, per The Guardian. “I remember seeded even myself would you get to third, fourth round without dropping too many games. And now every match it’s a battle, and you just have to try and push yourself because it’s all a challenge.

“They are young girls and they’re fearless.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger Will Love Ana Ivanovic's New Cover Spread

Schweinsteiger has seen similar success in 2016. Well, at least his club has.

Since the turn of the calendar year, Manchester United are unbeaten (3-1-0), advancing to the fourth round of the FA Cup and capturing a pivotal 1-0 win over Liverpool. Schweinsteiger hasn’t exactly been on the pitch for all of it, but his heart is in the right place.

Oddly enough, you won’t see him congratulate Ivanovic on his social media accounts.

Then again, the separate-but-together philosophy has been working in the couple's favor.
