WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin wants to make some room in the WWE's highest honor for Bill Goldberg.

Goldberg has been away from the WWE since 2004 and has been on rocky terms with Vince McMahon's organization, but the former WCW and WWE Heavyweight Champion belongs in the Hall of Fame as far as the "Texas Rattlesnake" is concerned.

Chris Jericho Likely Happy Goldberg Won't Return To WWE

"He's a Hall of Fame guy in my opinion, for his impact on the business," Austin told Jim Ross on the 'Ross Report' podcast. "He wasn't around real long, but his impact was felt big time."

Goldberg has been at odds with the WWE, so it's unlikely he'll come back. If he ever does return, it doesn't necessarily mean a Hall of Fame induction will be part of the deal, but the honor could eventually be leverage the WWE uses to get him back in the fold.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin Showing Interest In Facing Brock Lesnar

While Goldberg had a great career and was a part of WCW's original dominance over the WWE in the Monday Night Wars, he doesn't quite warrant an induction into the Hall of Fame for many reasons.

1) Flash In The Pan

Goldberg's peak in wrestling came during his 173-0 streak, but once that was over, it was all downhill for the unstoppable force. Most of his matches during that time followed the same formula, and once it was over, the wrestler was lost in the shuffle. When Goldberg lost to Kevin Nash, his moment in the sun came to an end and the hype was over.

While Goldberg was a big part of WCW's success, the nWo and other factors also helped the company thrive. The hulking wrestler also injured a few guys on his way out.

2) Rough WWE Stint

Goldberg has often looked back on his brief WWE run from 2003-04 with somber feelings -- and for good reason. The 49-year-old engaged in a rather mundane feud with Triple H before moving onto other things, but nothing memorable ever really occurred with Goldberg in the WWE.

3) Subpar Swansong

The Atlanta, Ga., native's last memory in the WWE is an atrocious one. It seemed like a dream match come to life when it was revealed the monstrous Goldberg would battle the towering Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX, but reality reared its ugly head.

With the Madison Square Garden crowd realizing both men were leaving the WWE, they hijacked the match and totally turned against both combatants. The audience only cared about the referee, who ironically enough was Austin himself, and the match was a complete dud.

With a short peak (in WCW of all places) and a lackluster WWE career, Goldberg doesn't warrant a Hall of Fame induction.
