After defeating Santa Fe in its opening match of the 2016 Florida Cup, Bayer Leverkusen returns to the pitch on Wednesday to face Internacional.

A goal from Stefan Kiessling in the 87th minute lifted Leverkusen to a 1-0 victory on Sunday. It was the club's first action since a 1-0 victory over Ingolstadt in mid-December. Manager Roger Schmidt will look for a more comprehensive performance against Internacional.

Manchester United Almost Ruined Chicharito's Career

Unlike Leverkusen, the Brazilian side makes its tournament debut on Wednesday after finishing fifth in the Brazilian Serie A last season. These will be Internacional's first competitive minutes since a 2-0 victory over Cruzeiro on Dec. 6.

Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez

Much is being made about the future of Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. The Mexico international opened pandora's box when asked about it earlier this week.

"We will see. Just look at my last three years," Hernandez said, per ESPN FC. "I have played at Real Madrid, Manchester United and I am at Leverkusen now."

"Everything can be different in six months."

Squad manager Jonas Boldt isn't exactly open to the idea of selling Hernandez, though.

"He actually only addressed the fast-moving nature of football. What is important is that everything is in our hands, and we can decide."

Hernandez has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the January and summer transfer window. Everyone -- including his national team manager Juan Carlos Osorio -- will keep their eyes on him on Wednesday.
