Daniel Bryan spent most of 2015 on the sidelines, and entering 2016, his status doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon.

"The Beard" has been cleared by his own doctors, but the WWE's physicians have yet to allow him to return from a concussion. Bryan's status hasn't made many fans optimistic that he'll make a comeback anytime soon.

There was even a rumor going around that a WWE employee claimed a letter to process Bryan's release was circulating. The company, however, denied the claims about planning to let Bryan go.

"There is no truth to this letter from a supposed WWE employee," a WWE spokesperson said about the release, which was rumored for Monday, according to WrestlingInc.com.

Daniel Bryan May Have To Retire

Though Bryan likely won't be getting released, there are plenty of other things he could do without competing in a WWE ring if the company continues to keep him out of the ring.

1) Wrestle Elsewhere

This could be tough with Bryan being married to WWE Diva Brie Bella, but if the WWE's policies are too strict, he could always go elsewhere. With places like TNA, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor and other places in need of talent, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion could jump ship since his own doctors have cleared him. Bryan started in the Indys and could easily return to where his career started out.

2) General Manager

The Authority has been in power as heels for about two years now, so a change of pace could be a good thing. Having a babyface like Bryan in power on the WWE roster could be an interesting move. Much like Austin as the sheriff and Mick Foley as the commissioner, a babyface in charge can often be a lot of fun.

3) NXT Trainer

Bryan has a wealth of experience and could be a great teacher for the WWE's continuous pool of upcoming talent. The WWE Superstar has played a teaching role before, but he could turn it into a full-time gig if he's unable to return to the squared circle.
