CM Punk's first opponent in the UFC remains a mystery, but one unlikely candidate stepped up -- and drew the attention of Dana White.

Mickey Gall, a welterweight out of New Jersey, called out Punk recently, throwing his name into the ring as a potential opponent for the former WWE Superstar. White has revealed that he is actively searching for Punk's first opponent, with the bout expected to happen later this year.

CM Punk Has No Business In Video Game Until His Debut

In the preview for "Lookin' for a Fight," a reality show where White, the UFC president, searches for the next MMA star, Gall is featured after winning his first professional fight. Gall won via first-round submission in the regional promotion Dead Serious MMA, and he called out the former WWE Champion after going 1-0.

"I would love to fight that man, CM Punk," Gall said into the microphone after his win.

WWE's Latest Decision Soils 30-Man Royal Rumble Match

Judging by White's reaction in the video, he was definitely intrigued by the prospect of the relative unknown potentially making a name for himself and battling Punk in his highly-anticipated debut. Gall has continued to campaign for the match on Twitter.

Gall doesn't have much professional experience, according to Joe.co.uk, which would make him a pretty good potential opponent for Punk, who has no experience up to this point. The "Best in the World" has been training out of Roufusport in Milwaukee, but he's had his debut pushed back multiple times now -- most recently due to a shoulder injury suffered during training.

Punk's list of potential opponents just took a very interesting turn.

Should Mickey Gall be CM Punk's first UFC opponent?
