The Saints host the Jaguars on Sunday, in what could be the final time the Mercedes-Benz Superdome welcomes Drew Brees as one of its own.

The 36-year-old will be entering the final year of his five-year, $100 million deal in 2016. He will be the subject of a $30 million cap hit next season. Apparently, the Saints aren’t in any rush to honor it.

Why Trading Drew Brees To The Jets Makes Sense

New Orleans’ depth issues can be seen in its 5-9 record entering Week 16. In fact, since signing Brees to his five-year deal in 2012, the Saints have qualified for the playoffs just once -- a Divisional Round loss to the Seahawks in 2013.

Not exactly the results the front office hoped for. All that was paid for was records, not wins.

The jettisoning wouldn’t stop there for the Saints, either.

Prepare for a very different look in New Orleans next season.
