Odell Beckham Jr.'s excellent play this season on the field has taken a back seat to all the drama off of it.

The Giants wide receiver was suspended on Monday after his chirpy game with Panthers cornerback Josh Norman a day earlier reached its terrible boiling point with Beckham getting flagged for three personal foul penalties. Beckham's worst offense saw him land a grisly helmet-to-helmet hit on Norman, which should have gotten him tossed from the contest.

Odell Beckham's 'Hipster Look' Leading To Gay Bashing

The 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year appealed the league's decision, but it was upheld on Wednesday in a hearing. After word came out that Beckham will sit during the Giants' Week 16 game against the Vikings, the flashy receiver took to Twitter to deliver what seemed like a heartfelt apology:

It's nice to see the receiver learned his lesson -- even if the apology was long overdue -- right? Well, maybe that's not the case after all.

Are Giants To Blame For Not Dealing With Odell Beckham's Actions?

A tweet from ESPN's Jonathan Coachman revealed that his colleague, insider Adam Shefter, didn't notice a contrite Beckham at his appeal hearing Wednesday:

If that's the case, shame on Beckham. Nobody has turned more heads in the league the last two seasons in the NFL than the sophomore receiver, but acting like he did Sunday against Carolina embarrassed himself and the organization.

There's no denying Beckham's skills, he's tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns (13), in sole possession of third in receiving yards (1,396) and ranks eighth in receptions (91). However, the attitude he showed Sunday leaves a lot to be desired and is hopefully just a lesson learned and not a dastardly habit.

If Beckham truly isn't remorseful, he should be. The Giants are clinging to quickly-fading postseason hopes and thanks to his actions, they'll be without their best player when they take on the Vikings.
