Chelsea finally did it, they finally sacked Jose Mourinho.

The Curse Of Jose Mourinho's Third Season

The now-twice fired manager barely qualified for the Champions League Round of 16, but it's the club's 15 points through 16 matches that ultimately forced Roman Abramovich's hand. Rudderless and complacent, the Blues embark on a managerial search just one week before the holidays.

It's a search that should begin with John Terry.

The Only Thing Likeable About Jose Mourinho, His Daughter

John Terry

Yes, John Terry.

The player-manager isn't a foreign concept in the Premier League. Just last year -- following the sacking of David Moyes -- Ryan Giggs took over as interim player-manager for Manchester United. He was a temporary stop-gap for the eventual hire of Louis van Gaal.

Terry would serve the same purpose.

Diego Simeone

And Terry would serve the same purpose because serious money should be thrown at Diego Simeone this summer.

The Atletico Madrid manager won't leave mid-season -- not with his club comfortably in the Champions League Round of 16 and atop the Spanish table -- so Chelsea will be forced to play the waiting game.

It's one seriously worth playing.

Since taking over at Atletico Madrid, Simeone's led the club to a league title (2012), Europa League title (2012), Copa del Rey (2013) and Champions League final berth (2014).

All that while operating under the shadows of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Carlo Ancelotti

The obvious short and long-term solution at Stamford Bridge is Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian guided Chelsea to a Premier League and FA Cup double in his first spell with the club before being sacked in 2011.

A serious offer, however, will be necessary. Ancelotti already indicated he will return to management next year.
