As the Canadiens and Bruins prepare to take their rivalry outside, the NHL is giving fans a special glimpse inside these Original Six teams with the premiere of "Road to the Winter Classic" on Wednesday.

These teams will start the New Year with some teeth-chattering action in the elements on Jan. 1 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., home of the Patriots. Before the puck drops on the 2016 Winter Classic, NHL cameras will follow these two clubs as they prepare for the battle.
Montreal (20-9-3, 43 points) enters Wednesday atop the Atlantic Division, while Boston (16-9-4, 36 points) holds fourth place in the division and the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

--These teams have met three times this season, with the Canadiens winning twice by 4-2 scores. The Bruins, however, won their last meeting, 3-1, last Wednesday.
--Montreal has played two outdoor games in its history, defeating Ottawa, 4-3, in the 2003 Heritage Classic, and falling to Calagary, 4-0, at the same event in 2011. Boston, meanwhile, has played two outdoor games as well, with one being an exhibition in 1956 and the other a 2-1 overtime victory over Philadelphia in the 2010 Winter Classic.
