It doesn't carry the same luster it used to -- especially with Army delving further into football irrelevancy -- but Saturday's Army-Navy game still carries heavy connotations for the 50-some odd players on the field.
The Midshipmen (9-2) -- ranked No. 21 in the country -- have already booked a ticket to the Military Bowl against Pittsburgh on Dec. 28. There is one last hoorah for the crop of seniors that take the field.
The same cannot be said for Army.
At 2-9, the Black Knights will be absent during the college football bowl season for a fifth consecutive year. The only saving grace for the program will be a victory over its archrival on Saturday.
Something that hasn't been accomplished since 2001.

I suspect that the Army-Navy game will get better TV ratings in Utah than it has in a while...

Army va Navy. Only game where everyone playing is willing to die for everyone watching. Just heard that, so awesome. #Godblessoursoldiers
