No. 3 seed North Dakota State (10-2) will host Northern Iowa (9-4) in the FCS quarterfinals on Saturday. It's the first postseason meeting between the two programs.
The two, however, previously met this season.
A game-winning TD with 35 seconds left lifted the Bison to a 31-28 homecoming victory over the Panthers on Oct. 10. As if previous success wasn't enough of an advantage, North Dakota State will have 18,000-plus in its corner. The program is a perfect 14-0 at home in its FCS playoffs history.
Northern Iowa will need to rely on its seven-game winning streak -- dating back to Oct. 17 -- to pull off the upset on Saturday.
