Chivas Guadalajara are taking their relegation-threatened battle ahead of the 2016 Clausura campaign seriously.

Los Rojiblancos already signed Orbelin Pineda from Queretaro on Wednesday. The 19-year-old debuted with Los Gallos Blancos in 2014. In 14 appearances this campaign, he created 15 total chances in addition to his three goals.

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez Should Return To Chivas

The next piece to the relegation puzzle was said to be Leon’s Carlos “El Gullit” Peña.

There’s just one problem: he’s too rich for Jose Luis Higuera’s blood.

In response to a Twitter question, the CEO of Omnilife-Chivas went as far as saying he would cost the club more money than buying Lionel Messi.

That’s hardly the case.

Peña’s value on the open market is a mere $3.2 million, per Rene Tovar Rodriguez. Naturally, Leon want $8 million instead.

That’s the impasse the club currently finds itself in, but it’s not worth being relegated over.

Though Peña will cost the Guadalajara brass more than anticipated, it will prove to be a worthy investment. In 15 appearances with Leon this season, the 25-year-old provided seven goals and 19 total chances created.

Exactly the kind of firepower necessary for a club that scored just 23 goals during the Apertura season.

There’s no need to be cheap around the holidays now. A future in the first division depends on it.
