A rivalry is renewed in Mexico city. Except this time, America and Pumas UNAM will cross paths in the semifinals of the Apertura Liguilla.

The two previously met on Nov. 21. Goals from Rubens Sambueza (America) and Ismael Sosa (Pumas UNAM) pushed the match to a 1-1 draw. A similar result on Thursday will serve Pumas well. Holding the No. 1 seed, the club will need just a victory at home or a draw less than 2-2 to advance to the Liga MX final.

William Da Silva Will Replace Rubens Sambueza Ahead Of Club World Cup

Given America's recent form, however -- which includes a 5-3 aggregate victory over Leon -- that will prove to be difficult.

What They're Saying

America defender Paolo Goltz (via Esto): "We have a mature team that knows how to deal with situations better. The truth is, I think this is going to be a very attractive game. It's the game everyone wanted to see, and even more so in the semifinals. I think the fans are really going to support us. We hope to respond on the pitch."

Pumas UNAM striker Eduardo Herrera (via Esto): "It's true, the fans make [Estadio Azteca] feel like home. At Azteca, the Pumas fans are always in full force. We expect that to be the case one last time [on Thursday]."
