At 2:45 p.m. in Amsterdam Arena in the Netherlands, AC Milan will look to improve its Champions League record to 2-0 against Ajax, which will be trying to notch its first win in Champions League play this season. Live stream the game here.
AC Milan gets a shot in the arm today with the return of Mario Balotelli, following a suspension for his undue interactions with an official.
"In the past few days I've had a knee problem but I am ready to play against Ajax," Balotelli said. "In Amsterdam, we want to give continuity to our victory over Celtic. Our aim is to arrive as calmly as possible to our double-header with Barcelona."
Milan is riding high once again following a Serie A win against Sampdoria on Saturday that snapped a three-match winless skid. "We have been unlucky at the start of the season," Balotelli said. "But we are not inferior to any team and I'm sure that by Christmas we will be in the top positions."
Ajax hasn't defeated a Serie A team in 11 years, but wrecked Go Ahead Eagles 6-0 this weekend. "I wanted to see an Ajax that was aggressive in play, coaching, and fending off the opponent," Ajax coach Frank de Boer said. "And I saw that (against Go Ahead Eagles) for the entire 90 minutes. Then you see that both attacking and defending can be beautiful. We controlled and created opportunities. We showed passion and that is what we need to do on Tuesday."
Milan received some bad news this week also, when they learned striker El Shaarawy wouldn't be making this trip. They were hopeful he'd be returning soon after missing more than a month with a hairline fracture of a metatarsal bone in his foot.
Milan vice president Adriano Galliani said, "It's a real shame but we'll get him back soon.''
