A potential berth in the College Football Playoff will be on the line Saturday when No. 6 Notre Dame (10-1) visits No. 9 Stanford (9-2).
Only a hurricane has been able to contain the Fighting Irish this season. Well, that, injuries and a 24-22 loss to Clemson. Entering Week 13, it's the only blemish keeping Notre Dame from qualifying for the College Football Playoff.
The committee dropped the Irish from No. 4 to No. 6 after a 19-16 win over Boston College last Saturday.
Stanford, on the other hand, has no one else to blame but the team staring in the mirror. A 38-36 loss to Oregon isn't enough to keep the program from advancing to the Pac-12 title game, but a place in the top four is a stretch considering the teams that remain in front.
