Well the dream of back-to-back national championships has died for the Ohio State Buckeyes as they lost at home to Michigan State 17-14 on a last minute field goal.

Meanwhile, running back Ezekiel Elliott blasted the Buckeyes play calling according to SB Nation and pretty much said he won't be back next year; so did Cardale Jones.

"I deserve more than 11 carries. I really do. I can't speak for the playcaller. I don't know what was going on, Elliott said. "Honestly, that was my last game at the Shoe. There's no chance I'm coming back next year."

As usual this season, Ohio State again struggled on offense, which was their downfall. Their two scores came on turnovers, but after that, the Buckeyes offense didn't do much.

Michigan State won with back-up quarterbacks Tyler O'Connor and No. 3 quarterback Damion Terry as the injured Connor Cook watched on.

Michigan State is now one game away from facing Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game.

More than likely, Ohio State is out of the playoffs and maybe the Big Ten as well if Iowa doesn't win out. Ohio State's loss has opened the door for the Big 12 champion, which looks like it may be Oklahoma, Oklahoma State or Notre Dame.

Just last week, the talk was what if OU and Notre Dame win out, who would get the No. 4 slot?

Well for now, it looks like it will come down to OU, Notre Dame, Ok State and the Iowa/Michigan State winner for the last two slots in the college football playoffs.

Ohio State's loss shouldn't be that big of a surprise to most college football fans because they haven't played like the No. 1 team all season, which could explain why the college football committee dropped them to No. 3 despite being undefeated.

Now, unless a bunch of upsets happen, the Buckeyes will not be able to defend their national title.
