Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Jennings now claims he was "sucker punched" during a brawl last weekend at a Los Angeles nightclub where it's been reported he was slugged in the mouth by rapper The Game.
Without naming names, Jennings took to Twitter this week to speak out about the incident, posting "sucker punch when I wasn't looking. PS, my face is great looks the same. See."
Earlier this week, news reports indicated the two men, both L.A. natives, were inside Lure nightclub last Saturday for a party named "Toxic" when they had words over who could use the deejay's microphone. According to The Detroit Free Press, Jennings was at the club celebrating his birthday with friends and Game regularly hangs out there.
With Game already angry and feeling disrespected over what he perceived as Jennings' hogging of the microphone, witnesses told the Free Press the rapper tried to have words with the NBA star and things quickly escalated. "Game tried to have words with him, and it just escalated and Game hit Brandon in the mouth," another witness told the website.
The fracas was quickly broken up by security, which allowed both men and their entourages to remain at the club. Not long after another fight broke out between the two posses and management elected to shut down the club.
Coincidentally, both Jennings and Game were at the premiere event for the "NBA 2K14" video game on Tuesday night also in California that ended without incident.
The Pistons acquired Jennings from the Milwaukee Bucks in a sign-and-trade that netted the 24-year-old veteran guard a new three-year deal worth more than $25 million and shipped guard Brandon Knight to Milwaukee.
