There's a dysfunctional family and then there's the Jets.

The same organization that has ruined QBs by the dozen -- most recently Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Geno Smith -- can't even see eye to eye on what success means in 2015.

Jets Making Calls To Replace Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick

On the one hand, Todd Bowles has a definitive picture of success this season -- one that falls in line with seemingly every other human being in the NFL.

"For me, yes. You want to get to the playoffs every year," Bowles said, per New York Post. "You don't want to accept not going. Your goal is to get to the playoffs, so you can get to the Super Bowl.

Rex Ryan's Best Moments With Jets

"You're trying to get to the playoffs and win the Super Bowl and that's still our goal."

Simple enough, except GM Mike Maccagnan isn't on board with that assessment.

"I don't view it as a benchmark, saying, 'We have to be here at some point in time,'" Maccagnan said. "We want to build a team that can compete for the playoffs and then, hopefully, at some point in time, beyond that.

"But I wouldn't necessarily say playoffs-or-not [is] a benchmark."

In theory, isn't a playoff team one that can compete for the playoffs and beyond that already?

Then again, these are the Jets. Dysfunction at its finest.

When you're surrounded by broken jaws, $600 promises and constant question marks at the most important position in football, not much is supposed to make sense.
