Don't even think about it, Ray Rice.

The exiled former Ravens running back said he would welcome the opportunity to work out for the Patriots, according to a tweet from ESPN's Josina Anderson that Larry Brown Sports posted.

NFLPA Accuses League's Owners Of Conspiring To Blackball Ray Rice

However, New England won't even go near the phone, according to the Boston Herald.

"Some options might include Travaris Cadet (with the Pats until his Sept. 29 release), Montee Ball (already worked out with the Patriots) and Steven Jackson (previously linked to the Pats)," the Boston Herald reported. "Ray Rice will not be considered, and Knowshon Moreno is another intriguing name but he is still recovering from a major knee injury."

Time For NFL To Find Out Extent Of Backlash Over Possible Ray Rice Return

New England owner Robert Kraft was a vehement supporter of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell when Goodell imposed the indefinite suspension on Rice after the TMZ video of Rice punching then-fiancée Janay Palmer -- who is now his wife -- inside an Atlantic City casino and knocked her unconscious.

Referring to Goodell's decision to rescind his original two-game suspension of Rice for the indefinite penalty in light of the video, Kraft lauded the commissioner's reversal, Fox Sports reported.

"The way he handled this situation himself, coming out with the mea culpa in his statement a couple weeks ago, or 10 days ago, and setting a very clear policy of how we conduct ourselves in the NFL, I thought was excellent," Kraft said on "CBS This Morning." "Anyone who is second-guessing him doesn't know him."

The owner then was asked whether he thought Rice would be back in the league.

"Well, I don't think he will play another NFL game," Kraft said. "I would be shocked if some team would pick him up."

He added that the Patriots would not sign Rice.

Kraft has not commented publicly on the Cowboys' Greg Hardy, before or after photos of the victim's bruised body she said were taken one day after he was arrested for domestic assault.

The double-standard continues.
