There are only so many beatings you can take before you finally see the light. Kobe Bryant has finally seen the light.

Don't Retire Kobe, Play For The Knicks

Ahead of the Lakers’ clash with the Knicks on Sunday, the 37-year-old dropped the first hint of a possible retirement at season’s end.

"If you asked me today, this would be my last year. But you never know," said Bryant, who is in the final year of his deal with the Lakers, per ESPN. "We'll keep it open. Whatever happens, happens."

Metta World Peace Still Hates Everyone

If you asked Bryant six weeks ago, the thought wouldn’t have even crossed his mind.

"If it is [my last season], it is," Bryant said on NBA media day, per CBS Sports. "If it isn't, I'll be ready for next season. I don't spend too much time thinking about it.

“I've got enough to think about."

You can officially add retirement to that list, and rightfully so.

The most decorated NBA player since Michael Jordan has resorted to self-criticism and an efficiency rating lower than Tiago Splitter's.

This is no way for a five-time NBA champion to go out.
